A spontaneous risk is where we jump in with an inner knowing that no matter what, we will be fine. If we go down, it’s temporary. I’ll be back. Just stating this feels wonderful and liberating. #UNLEASHED.
There are certain word asscociations, that gives us a dip in the stomach. If I say risk, you say failure. So not taking a risk can keep you safe to a degree. It can also stunt your growth, being comfortable in the discomfort, the fear is so overwhelming it cancels out the risk of ever doing a new thing. I know the notion well, the reason the fear holds us well is the picture we set up and see in the future. Once we paint the picture it’s stagnant in the mind that can’t be erased.
What if we could see words in a new light, risk=going into new territory failure=making a step, review, making necessary improvements and celebrating the courage to try.
As humans our innate passion to know the outcome rather than not, which doesn’t always sit well. My personal demonstration is knowing the business needs to earn money to profit. When this doesn’t happen the brain reverts to, this is too risky. Digging deep into the dilemma, it’s about my money mind set. This has kept me at jobs that weren’t challenging but gave me an income (safety net). Now I, deep dive and explore the results I want to happen.
Of course, there is reckless risk, although the outcome will hurt bad. I am sure, big lessons can be learn’t. At this point in time, is your business, more risky than your life? To get better at risk, roll with people who take/or have taken them. The juicy goss is needed, where did it take them, what did they learn, with new knowledge, what would they approach differently. Like they say, it’s always good to dive in with those who have done the diving before, wear a badge of honour.
I love people who jump in and do a new thing with a risk. E.g going to a new country to travel/live and learning the language of the country while there. Moving from a town to a rural lifestyle- a city person becoming a farmer.
Whether we know it or not, we take risks every time we inhale and exhale breath, along our heart beat. We don’t give a second thought to those life line vessels happening. We just trust that they will. Just as a side point as a baby, we took a risk, to go from crawling, standing and walking, which magically bought us to this day.
