My background is Administration Management and I have a degree in Business with Marketing, but spent most of my time working with IT, processes, systems and managing resources along with plenty of change. I always enjoyed the creativity behind marketing but never had the opportunity to work in this field as I had no prior experience upon completion of my degree, so I returned to admin and worked my way up the career ladder. I had followed the path my parents had recommended, (go to school, get a degree, get a good job) yet I didn’t feel fulfilled in the contribution I was making to the life of others or my own.
After many years of doing what others had told me was right for me. One day I said to myself “There has to be more to life than this?” Well that’s where my journey began because there are always opportunities everywhere if you are looking for them. And the best changes can be made when you ask the right questions. By then my biggest motivation was the birth of my second child. There are 14 years between my children because I had decided to work so hard buiding a career when my daughter was young. I missed a lot of her important formative years. I joined a network marketing company and my journey of real business education began.
TJ: TJ Focused Solutions existence is to help bridge the gap between the failure and success rate of small businesses. By helping start-ups and those in early years of their business develop creative and sustainable marketing plans. Being on my own self employment journey for the past 5 years. I have noticed the lack of appreciation and understanding of the importance of marketing as a business function. With the creation of the internet and digital marketing there seems to be a loss of focus on the importance of researching, planning and implementing structured activities to ensure messages reach the correct target audience. My aim is to enlighten, share and support businesses in their flight until their wings are strong enough to glide the global on their own.
TJ: My new venture is still in its infancy stage and I haven’t officially launched yet. I would say my biggest challenge is working to create my own products and brand. My focus has now changed from the perspective of an independent distributor and business model coach to creating my own business system. I have noticed the gaps in my knowledge of starting a business from the beginning and am having fun exploring new ideas and creative ways of working. I am taking my entrepreneurial journey one day at a time, dividing and managing my time for all my commitments. I think it’s important for an entrepreneur to be able to accept failure and learn from mistakes. It’s all part of your growth process. But if you believe in what you are doing NEVER GIVE UP!
TJ: There are many fantastic people in my family and network but the greatest influence on me has always been my children, aged 21 and 7. After all how can I tell them to follow their dreams if I am not doing the same.
TJ: To develop my knowledge and experience of starting a business from scratch and help those with business ideas turn their vision into a sustainable reality. I would like to be the number one choice for innovative marketing communication campaigns in the small business arena. I would also like to participate in the reduction of the amount of small business failures around the global.
