JB: For all of my working life, I have always worked supporting people for that change in life. I have had the opportunity of working with, various vulnerable groups, which include, the homeless, ex-offenders, those suffering with mental health, and young people. Often, the complexity of one issue, sips into creating another one. I carry a passion, for planting the seeds that make the difference, and empower others to see the good within. The working strategies within charities have changed, the emphasis was on hitting targets in order to secure funding. The impact was felt in not being able to holistically work with clients. I was hungry for more of something else. I knew that I still wanted to work with people, something new to motivate me. I felt I had kept myself stuck for long enough. I researched coaching, liked what I saw and decided on attending the coaching academy weekend workshop. I was hooked and decided to complete the course, I was still working at the time. After my contract ended, and feeling burnt out, I just couldn’t put myself through doing jobs that were unfulfilling for the soul. I became unemployed and took the opportunity to do a government course for those with a business idea to bring into futution. My business was born as a newly qualified coach, my passion for health and wellness, having gone through changes myself, stimulated me to work with women in business who wanted to sustain their health and well being. The mix of my passion for health, and the love of empowering others on their journey put me in good stead. Women, are the nurturers of others, at the expense of leaving out their own self nurturing. I love the process of coaching, in that it creates the space to work on a goal and break the challenge of moving forward. Tools for life are learnt that can be used at all times. Witnessing the power of another human to move forward, is indeed awesome.
JB: Going into business, is a dual feeling of scary and exciting. The sense of where do I start to interact, market the business and get clients. The need for perfection kicks in, as prosperity means having a business where people know of you and spend on you. Your mind has a time line of how this should happen and when. When you’re not gaining the clients you feel that this is a failure. I can’t go on. I was getting those nearlys and then the turn down. Fortunately for me, I was engaging in self development webinars and I realized my scarcity mindset was causing my wows, (you really see how being an employee conditions the mind in a certain way). Hearing other business professionals, speak about challenges, they were indeed normal. This gave me a boost to work on my personal money mind set, continue to engage my tribe, be available to serve them and set up marketing strategies.
JB: I must say that I have a number of sister friends who have supported me, and had my back all the way. One person, who I have never met, but feel as though I have, is a lady called Lisa Nichols, who I have gravitated to, for more reasons than one. Her authenticity is remarkable and her story is one I am able to connect with. Her ordinariness to be open and clear about her journey of wanting more for life, and the challenges she faced. Her belief in those who connect, ability to identify where others are, and also the way she rallies you into act action. I love her exercises that shift you into gear, they have helped me enormously into shifting out of the comfort zone.
JB: I want to see the business move to a global level where I am creating empowerment training services that will serve women. I also want to connect with other companies in the holistic wellness approach, put on seminars, workshops and retreats. I have a love for the sun, so providing services in countries that are hot would be, my ultimate “I have arrived moment.”
