I’m Maya Avidov, I’m an all-round filmmaker (I write/direct, shoot and produce) with over 9 years of experience. Before going to film school I went to art school (mostly practising Photography and Printmaking)- though something always felt missing.
Then one day, whilst I was watching a film, I had the (somewhat simple) realization that what had been missing from my photographs was movement. And text. And from then on it was like a light turned on and I started my real work.
I moved to London in 2012 and founded my production company Darling Pictures in 2014. I created Darling Pictures with the objective that it be a production home for unique content that pushes the boundaries of genre and method to create original, engaging entertainment. Our company motto is : Everything’s interesting if your bold enough to engage. We create online content as well as short and long films (fictional & documentary). Amongst our clients are HTC, The British Library and Ministry of Stories. We are currently embarking on our first feature-length hybrid documentary about the classroom experience from the point of view of primary school children across the UK.”
