Noor’s Project: Collision AI – AI Solutions for Social Good
The Problem More than ever, there is a need to more swiftly and effectively tackle the most pressing issues the world is facing now, whether that be climate change, humanitarian response or peacebuilding these are growing exponentially– and there is an even more pressing need to use technology such as AI to bear on these. While AI and ML are taking off in various corporate industries, there are few operating for social good and fewer of these that are both women led and focused on tackling social challenges that mostly affect women. There are also issues arising in AI around bias and lack of representation, as well as lack of access for the communities that are most adversely affected. Women, for example, have been shown by studies to be the most affected by the impacts of weather changing, but are also at the forefront of climate change mitigation in their communities. Target Audience The Users: Communities that are affected adversely by world issues, and especially women. The Customers: Government, NGOs, International Organisations, and communities and others that can leverage AI solutions to enhance the work that they do and more effectively use their existing resources – for social good! The Idea The Idea: Collision AI is working to put technology, especially AI, in hands of those that need it the most and can benefit from it the most. Empowering communities, especially women, and building sustainable solutions. To do this, we will be building a platform where communities can get access to support and insights into how to boost climate resilient activities in aid of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals – including access to predictive model insights as well. We are also dedicated to training and recruiting women in the countries we operate in to be data scientists and engineers and supporting in bridging the gender data gap that exists in many datasets. As a woman founded and women led company, to tackling bias and issues around the ethical use and building AI that is gender balanced and gender sensitive is baked in our DNA.
