Istra Bell is a creative, loves ice cream, chocolate and has a passion for entrepreneurship and small business management. Istra was born and raised on the tri-island state of Grenada, located in the Southeastern Caribbean Sea. The other two islands which make up the trio are Carriacou and Petite Martinique which lies north of Grenada. Istra’s passion for entrepreneurship started while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at St. George’s University (SGU). She did a required final year project at SGU where she chose to build a system which focused on promoting small businesses from Grenada. |
It was through this project that she developed a desire to see island entrepreneurs from Grenada and the Caribbean succeed, with their products and services appearing on international markets or being featured in international magazines and media outlets. One year after graduating from SGU, her blog, Islepreneur.com, was founded and has been growing since. The platform has been used to promote small businesses and encourage entrepreneurship in Grenada. Islepreneur is also used to highlight benefits of entrepreneurship and to show islanders that it can be done regardless of circumstances and the size of their island. Islepreneur is being recognized in other parts of the Caribbean region, U.K. and Canada.
